Overview
The Merton Residence is a new-build family home on a compact suburban lot. The brief called for generous living spaces, a strong connection to the rear garden, and a material palette that ages gracefully.
Design Response
A double-height void anchors the open-plan living area, drawing northern light deep into the floor plan. Sliding glass panels open the kitchen and dining zone to a covered alfresco, effectively doubling the entertaining space in warmer months.
Materials
Face brick at street level grounds the home, while standing-seam metal cladding on the upper storey adds a contemporary edge. Internally, polished concrete floors and blackbutt timber joinery provide warmth and durability.
